Art Makes Columbus
As part of Ologie, we were fortunate to partner with the Greater Columbus Arts Council to help them define how to tell their story to their Columbus audience. GCAC is a group of artists across the city, from larger organizations like BalletMet, the Columbus Symphony, the Franklin Park Conservatory, and COSI, to independent musicians and artists who call Columbus home.
While they each have unique and compelling stories to tell, no one was doing a good job of telling the larger story of the arts in Columbus.
With a goal of focusing on ticket buyers and increasing awareness of the robust arts and cultural offerings in Columbus, we leaned on a storytelling platform that would create curiosity, unite, and break through the clutter.
The campaign is simple, bold, and memorable. Knowing that there would be a variety of photographic assets to work with, it was designed to elevate what the artists and arts organizations had available.
Stories were shared across all platforms, from videos to a revamp of the GCAC website.
With WOSU as our partner, we brought the artists’ stories to life. These videos are showcased on the GCAC website, and could be used promotionally as movie trailers and at events.
With Dustin Leggans as our partner, we revamped the GCAC website using the campaign brand. The website is much more user-friendly, giving visitors a choice between searching for events, or discovering artists.
The website became an engaging platform for sharing the stories behind the art, giving users a peek behind the curtain.
This is the largest public and private funding partnership of the arts in Columbus history. And an integral part of this campaign was consistency, making it easy to share and create new materials that aligned with the platform. By providing guidelines, digital assets for social media, and suggestions for engagement using #artmakescolumbus, there were impressive results: in the first three months alone, there were over 23 million impressions.
This work was completed while at Ologie, where I served as Creative Director on the project.
